I was born with a cafe-au-lait birthmark on my forehead, is it possible they fade away on their own?

Usually in the summer when i get tan it is very prominent but for the past couple of years I havnt even noticed it on my forehead anymore. Did it just go away on its own? I kind of miss it! Yeah it was big but it also made me unique :(
