How to get rid of birthmarks naturally?

I have a rather large, raised, dark red birthmark on the side of my head. It is only visible if I shave my head, but due to the very strange growth patterns of my hair, I have no other choice. Is there any way to get rid of it naturally, or at least lighten it?
