I have buds (thats what i think they r called) do you know about what exactly they are & what they do?

Um well i asked my mom and she says they are buds and my doctor says that too. Well i was wonderin what they mean and if they mean i am getting breats how long about? NOTE: I am in 6th grade aand 11 years old
